Litho printing can be used for the majority of print jobs including Brochures, Annual Reports, Booklets, Folded Leaflets, Flyers, Business Cards, Posters, Cards and much more. With press running speeds of 15,000 sheets per hour, this enables us to keep up with the demand of the larger print runs whilst remaining competitive when it comes to the overall cost of your print job.
Anilox Coating & IR Drying - The Anilox coating on our litho press is the 6th unit. This enables us to apply specialist coatings on coated papers (silk & gloss), uncoated papers and high quality paper stocks from GF Smith, Arjowiggins, Fenner Paper & Fedrigoni.
The Anilox coating acts like a protective barrier, enhancing both the look and feel of the finished printed job. For example, when we apply high gloss coating to our gloss paper stocks, this gives the look and feel of a low-level gloss lamination without the additional cost of applying gloss lamination to the printed sheets. We also have an extra matt coating we use on some of the GF Smith matt paper stocks, this helps to maintain the characteristics of the GF Smith paper stock and also gives the highest protection when the printed sheets are converted by creasing, folding or booklet stitching processes.
Once the Anilox coating is applied to the printed sheets, they travel through our extended delivery IR drying section on the press which helps to cure all 6 ink process applied through the print run. Our sheets are then dry enough to start the print finishing stages of guillotining, folding, creasing and stitching.
Powerful colour measurement is really important to our litho press operators. That’s why we have invested in the highest level colour management system - Heidelberg Prinect Axis Control.
The litho printed sheets are digitally scanned using our spectrophotometer on the print console. Prinect Axis Control software then calculates the colour deviations in the individual ink zones. These deviations between the predefined target value and the actual value are used for calculating the necessary corrective adjustments on all 5 litho printing units automatically, allowing the press to run at very high speeds with complete colour accuracy and reliability.
The Prinect Axis Control software also has integrated HKS and PANTONE® colour databases to ensure spot or metallic colour processes print to their correct values. Overall, this is powerful colour measurement for effective quality assurance. Its high degree of automation makes it an indispensable tool for all our litho printed jobs at Core Image.
